Replacing fogged glass is best left to professionals as the glass must be made to fit the particular opening. Beyond this, there are many different types of glazing and removing the existing glass can be tedious – and even dangerous.
If your windows are fogged, there are really only two options:
- Contact a glass company, not a window company, that can replace one or both sashes with a new, insulated glass unit. This can cost between $175-$250 per sash and typically carries a 5-10 year warranty against it fogging again.
- Replace the entire window. This is advisable if your windows are 10-15 years old or older.
