The Atlantic hurricane season kicked off this week. What’s the big question everyone needs to be asking this year? Is your home ready for hurricane season? This year, NOAA’s Climate Prediction Center is a 70% chance of 6-11 named storms, with 3-6 of those becoming hurricanes. NOAA also believes there will be two major (Category 2 or greater) hurricanes this season.
Getting your home ready for hurricane season
At Window World TX, we do everything possible to help homeowners along the coast get prepared for hurricane season. We offer top-of-the-line hurricane impact windows that are engineered to withstand extreme wind conditions. They’re also tested over and over again to meet code for coastal areas, including those needed in the Corpus Christi area.
In addition to your home’s windows, it’s also important to have a hurricane game plan ready. Does your family have a disaster kit prepared? Here are some recommendations:
- One gallon of water per person per day for at least three days.
- At least a three-day supply of non-perishable food
- Manual can opener
- Battery-powered radio (with extra batteries)
- Flashlight (with extra batteries)
- First aid kit
- Trash bags for sanitation
